Doing this should help glide along your lash line effortlessly and cut down time for applying eye makeup. No more wasting precious mornings on corrections or causing over use of cotton tips!

  1. Why not shave using conditioner?

If you’re out of shaving cream – or even if you’re not, lather your legs, armpits, even the more sensitive areas with conditioner instead of soap! Conditioner softens the hair and soothes the skin making it way easier to shave. 🙂

Plus it leaves skin feeling smooth, just remember to wash it off in the shower and don’t apply to anywhere especially oily to avoid acne and irritated skin.

Before you pluck your eyebrows, try to make sure you soften the skin by wetting a cotton ball in warm water, this will ensure less dryness and less of a pinch, even for thick follicles. When you start plucking, do so in the direction your hair grows, this will cause less trauma to the skin around it and result in less dryness and irritation.

Dry shampoo is great! It absorbs excess oil on the length of your hair and keeps your mane looking clean and fresh. However dry shampoo should only be used in between washes. For regular washes just wash the top of your head with regular shampoo followed by a quick towel dry. Your hair will look (and feel) as good as new.

Make sure you clean your makeup brushes regularly to avoid a build-up of makeup residue and bacteria – it can even cause Staph (Staphylococcus), which can result in pus, such as a boil, furuncle, or abscess. Delicious foods and vitamins to help make your hair and skin healthier! 

We all know that much or our external beauty depends on our internal beauty, and not what you think. I’m talking about your health! If you have a healthy diet and lifestyle, your chances of having beautiful hair and skin in not only increased, it’s almost guaranteed.

Here are a few foods rich in much needed vitamins to help you have healthier hair and skin.

Iron

Obviously, Iron is an especially important mineral, especially for women, but did you know it’s important for your for hair and too?

Not enough iron can actually contribute to hair loss, and will worsen the problem if you’re already suffering from Demodex mite related hair loss.

There are ways to get your iron levels up, and one way is eating animal products such as red meat, chicken and fish with a high bio-availability, (meaning the iron is readily available to the body). Vegetarians can raise their iron levels by eating lentils, spinach and other leafy green vegetables such as broccoli, kale and salad greens, or if you simply don’t have the time for these the leafy greens or a lot of meat there’s always the option of Iron supplements – approx. 15- 30AUD at a chemist or health food store.

Vitamin C 

Vitamin C aids the absorption of iron so foods high in vitamin C are good to eat in conjunction with iron-rich foods. Vitamin C is also an antioxidant so is used readily by the body. The best sources are blackcurrants, blueberries, broccoli, guava, kiwi fruits, oranges, papaya, strawberries and sweet potatoes. Vitamin C helps in the production of collagen that strengthens the capillaries in our skin.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is needed by the body to make sebum. Sebum is an oily substance created by our hairs sebaceous glands and provides a natural conditioner for a healthy scalp. Without sebum we may experience an itchy scalp and dry hair (which is what happens when Demodex mites feed off of it and cause hair loss and skin problems). Include animal products and orange/yellow coloured vegetables which turn into vitamin A, such as carrots, pumpkins and sweet potatoes.

Vitamin E

The sun (especially in hot places like Australia) can damage our hair just like it can damage our skin so ensure you eat foods rich in vitamin E to provide protection for your hair. Nuts are nutritional powerhouses, providing zinc as well as vitamin E so try to include them as part of a healthy diet.
